Parking Signs

Parking signs, street signs, traffic signs, and all sorts of other signs help people to get around everyday. When a person is looking for a specific place they often turn to street signs to know what street they are in. Traffic signs warn where there are traffic light and stop streets as well as possible areas where a driver needs to be cautious. Open signs in the windows stores and restaurants inform people whether or not a place is open and ready to do business. Handicap signs show the disabled where there are facilities to help them get along. There are literally hundreds of thousands of different signs all over the world and they play a surprisingly important role for many people.

To get their message across, most signs use a combination of three characteristics. These are color, shape, and message. The color of sign often gives people a quick indication of what the sign is for. This is most often seen in traffic signs that use the recognizable colors of red and yellow to warn people of danger. In other signs color is usually used to attract attention to the sign. The shape of the sign is often related to the color in the case of traffic signs. Warning signs tend to have obvious shapes like triangles and everyone recognizes the hexagonal shape of the stop sign. For other signs, shape can attract attention or help show the way as with arrow-shaped signs. Parking signs, for instance, do not have to have a specific shape; their message is what defines them.

The message on a sign will obviously differ depending on what the sign's purpose is. Most traffic signs simply have pictures on them that are easy to understand at a simple glance. People do not have the time to read signs when driving so a clear picture conveys the message easily and successfully. In contrast, other signs may have quite a lot written on them to convey a very specific message yet simple signs like open and parking signs need only use a singe word or letter to get the message across.

From parking signs, to street signs, to traffic signs, to open signs; there are all sorts of signs that we need to be aware of. Signs can help us find our way when looking for a street or keep us safe on the road. They can help us find an open store at midnight or help us find a parking area in busy downtown area. Signs are useful little things and many people would be lost without them.
